Capabilities
INDAGATUS supports organisations through science-led advisory, stewardship, market development, monitoring, and implementation support. These capabilities can be applied individually or combined to address complex environmental, sustainability, product, and market challenges.
They are grouped below by the role they play: understanding and evidencing a situation, and developing and delivering a response to it. Most engagements draw on both.
Understanding, Stewardship and Evidence
Scientific and Technical Advisory
Scientific and technical guidance for organisations needing evidence-based insight, problem definition, solution evaluation, environmental interpretation, and practical decision support. Typically applied where an organisation has data or a technical question but needs it interpreted in context before committing to a course of action.
Environmental Stewardship
Support for organisations seeking to strengthen environmental performance, stewardship commitments, responsible implementation, compliance alignment, and sustainability outcomes. This includes helping translate broad commitments into practices that can be applied and evidenced at operational level.
Product Stewardship
Advisory support for responsible product use, adoption, training, stakeholder communication, environmental risk awareness, and stewardship programmes linked to technical solutions. Particularly relevant where a product performs well technically but its outcomes depend on how it is used in the field.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Evidence
Design, interpretation, and use of monitoring and evaluation approaches to generate evidence, assess performance, support adaptive management, and guide better environmental and operational decisions. The emphasis is on monitoring that is proportionate and decision-relevant rather than comprehensive for its own sake.
Development, Adoption and Delivery
Product Development Support
Technical and strategic support across the product development pathway, from concept evaluation and field relevance to positioning, evidence generation, commercialisation, and adoption support. Often the value lies in testing early whether a concept will hold up under real field and regulatory conditions.
Market Development and Entry Support
Support for organisations entering or expanding in African markets through market insight, stakeholder mapping, adoption strategy, positioning, technical credibility, and implementation planning. Technical credibility and market access are treated together, because in these sectors they are rarely separable.
Training and Technical Communication
Development and delivery of technical training, stewardship materials, field guidance, scientific communication, proposal content, and practical resources that translate complex science into usable knowledge. Aimed at the point where technical information has to be acted on by people who are not specialists.
Implementation and Partner Support
Support for moving from strategy to execution through partner coordination, implementation planning, stakeholder alignment, field deployment support, and adaptive problem-solving. This is where plans meet contractors, budgets, seasons, and site conditions, and where most adjustment is needed.
How Capabilities Are Applied
Capabilities are applied selectively according to the challenge, context, partners, and desired outcomes. INDAGATUS does not apply a fixed service package, because the useful combination differs between a water quality problem, a product adoption problem, and a market entry problem, even where the underlying science overlaps.
In practice, most engagements begin with advisory and evidence work to establish what is actually happening, then draw on development, adoption, or implementation support depending on what that assessment shows.
